Real-Time Performance of Two Token Ring Protocols

When designing real-time communication protocols, the primary objective is to guarantee the deadlines of synchronous messages while sustaining a high aggregate throughput. In this paper, we study two token ring protocols for their suitability in real-time systems. The priority driven protocol (e.g., IEEE 802.5) allows implementation of a priority based real-time scheduling discipline like the r...

Guaranteeing Hard Real Time End-to-End Communications Deadlines

In a distributed hard real time system communication between tasks on different processor must occur in bounded time. The inevitable communication delay (termed the end-to-end delay) is composed from the delay in transmitting a message on the communications media, and also from the delay in delivering the data to the destination task. This paper gives schedulability analysis bounding the media ...

E ect of Nodes Reordering on the Schedulability ofReal - Time Messages in Timed Token

| This letter addresses the eeect of diierent ordering patterns of network nodes on the schedulability of real-time messages in a timed token network where the timed token medium access control protocol is employed. It is found that for any given setting of network parameters, a set of real-time message streams which is unschedulable under one particular nodes-ordering may become schedulable un...
